The Z06

On the day I picked up the Formula, there was a used Z06 sitting on the showroom floor right next to it. I was eyeing it and talking to the salesman about it, we both were blown away by it. He was quite a car guy too. I actually thought about buying it, it was exactly twice the price of the Formula though, and I couldn't afford the payments at the time. So right as he was getting the paperwork ready to sign, he half-kiddingly offered a test drive of the Z06. I told him that since I was buying the Formula, that the least he could do would be to let me test the Vette. To my surprise, he actually made it happen. He copied my driver's license again, got the keys, and we were out of the showroom. I hopped in it and we headed for the road. I'm glad to say that there was something wrong with the clutch on this particular car, so it was easier to swallow not taking it, but it was still a hell of a ride. At the two-lane onramp to the expressway, we pulled up next to a WRX. The WRX's owner and his girlfriend looked over, she looked back at him and back at us. The light turned and we were off. The WRX was left behind like the four cylinder it is. The Vette was a complete beast. No lack of acceleration. It just keeps pulling, much longer and harder than you'd expect. It just keeps going. We got several miles down the road and turned it around. We switched seats so he could drive it back, also giving me the chance to experience it from a different angle. Amazing car. We pulled into the lot, walked in to complete the paperwork, and a few minutes later I was driving off in the Formula, not quite a Z06 but still a hell of a car in it's own right.
